Cross Point Music
Music is important to us at Cross Point. We believe that music is vehicle given to us by God specifically to praise him. Although it is often used for other things, God's intent is that we use music to help facilitate the divine conversation of worship.

Worship can sometimes be over-spiritualized and confusing. We believe that worship can best be described as a divine conversation between God and man. The flow of the conversation is from:

Man to God
God to Man
Man to Man

Like any good conversation, it involves all who are participating. Sometimes the conversation is from man to God. This is where we say nice things to God like, "You are wonderful" "You are mighty and powerful", "You are holy" etc. Sometime we thank Him for the things he has done for us, like saving us, providing for us, etc. Sometimes we ask him for things like help, mercy, grace, etc. These are all examples of conversation from man to God.

Sometimes the conversation is from God to man. God speaks to His people through prayer, worship, and those still, quiet moments. He speaks to us through the reading and the preaching of his word. He speaks to us through a word spoken through other believers. He even speaks to us through his creation. If you listen, you'll hear God speaking all over the place.

Sometimes the conversation is from man to man about God. This is when we tell the story of what God did for us, like when he saved us, or healed us. This is called testimony. Sometimes we sing songs to encourage one another. We say things like, "Come, now is the time for worship", or "Everybody praise the Lord". Statements like these are directed to one another about God. Sometimes we say nice things about our relationship with God like "I am a friend of God" or "He knows my name". Sometimes we just say things to one another about how great God is like, "How great is our God" or "God created the heavens and the earth". These are all statements that delight God. It's kind of like when you walk past a room and you overhear people saying nice things about you. It makes you feel great. When God "overhears' his people saying nice things about Him to one another, it makes him feel great.

Because we believe that worship is a divine conversation between God and man, the worst thing we can do is leave anyone out. Just like a kid who is not being included on the playground, or an adult who feels like an outsider in the office, or a family member being ignored at the family reunion, it hurts to be left out. Cross Point Church is committed to engaging everyone in the divine conversation.

Here are some people you should know that will help you engage in the divine conversation.
